To Japan!

I need to just move to Japan for a year and be immersed in the language. My Japanese professor has said countless times thus far I know enough Japanese that I’d be able to get around in Japan, and the stuff in the 200 levels and beyond is an extension. Swell. Well, if I know enough to get around then that’s what I really need to do. Going to class and talking in Japanese for less than an hour a day isn’t going to help me learn. You learn by doing, and if I go to Japan then I’ll pretty much be forced to speak, read, write and hear Japanese all the time, so it’ll eventually come more naturally to me. Shame I don’t have the money. I wanted to do at least one semester abroad in Japan but have never had the money. 日本語が上手になるように日本に行きたいよ!! That doesn’t sound quite right, but it does get what I’m trying to say across.

This week has been kind of meh. One a good note I only had biostats once this week because the professor “had an incident” with her horse. But on a lower note I didn’t have my micro lab this week. Yes, I have to get up at 6AM in order to get to my 8AM lab which lasts until nearly noon at the longest, but it’s the one class that I really enjoy what I’m doing. What can I say, I’m a micro nut. Now back to Japanese homework.

O-chem…

I think…I’m going to take iaido over the summer. I’m sure my parents won’t mind if I do, it’s not too expensive. I need to get into martial arts, and I’ve always wanted to do something with sword.

O-chem is bugging me now. I thought I’d do alright in it, until I had to start visualizing the structures. I did poorly first time on the chapter 9 quiz, but that was because we had only been working on chapter 9 stuff one day in class. And tonight I went through the quiz and I thought I found the two points that I had gotten correctly, and worked through to get a different answer for everything else. Well, I got another 2 points only. So I went through it yet again. Now I’m at three points. I only have two more tried left, I don’t want to score lower. I just can’t figure out what the hell I’m doing wrong.

Awesome weekend

Seriously, if I didn’t have a test and oral exam tomorrow, and a hard super important test and practical on Wednesday, this weekend could have been enjoyed to the greatest extent. Yesterday started off a bit blah, because my parents ended up getting here an hour later than they expected, and then we ended up driving around the city for 45 minutes because my dad insisted on using the MapQuest directions he printed off, but we couldn’t find the road we were looking for. Eventually my mom just went on the Freeway. And we got there a bit late, but eventually we made it to the Renaissance Festival, with enough time to walk back to the jousting arena for the fist joust. Our knight was cool, his colors were awesome. Although I couldn’t get over the master of arm’s horse. Last year it was a big beautiful black horse, but this year it was white. What I loved about it though was that whenever she was just kind of in place and not riding around, her horse would dance around. It was awesome. And then, unlike the other years, when the queen/king came out the horse bowed. After that we hurried our way back to the entrance, because I wanted to see the gypsy violinist. I felt bad because we were the only ones who were actually there the entire time listening to her and not just sitting there to eat lunch (although we were eating lunch, I had a broccoli cheese soup bread bowl). I actually ended up buying one of her CD’s, I liked the music. And then there was a quick walk over to Three Guys and a Bunch of Drums. I’m pretty sure it was a new show this year, but if it wasn’t I don’t know why I’ve never gone to see it before. HILARIOUS. It was so funny, although they did some awesome stuff with the drums (and triangles) too. Then…it was walking around for a bit, buying a dragon candle and then back to jousting for the second joust. And we watched that, and then…I don’t think we watched another show, just walked around some (went to look at the hawks in the cages), went to the petting zoo and then back to jousting. And then we went home. The weather was absolutely perfect. I was worried it was going to rain and my parents would wimp out, but it didn’t. Until the last jousting it was cloudy all day and nice and cool, which was awesome. Even this time of the year it gets WAY to warm there with the sun out.

Yay!

So yay, one of my dragons finally grew up! So since it is possible for me to not fail at it, I got another egg. My other two dragons have clicks/views/unique views very close to the one who grew up, so I think they should grow up at some point in the next couple days.

Today has kind of messed me up. I keep thinking tomorrow I have microbiology lab, but I have chem lab. That’s because I keep thinking today is Sunday, not Wednesday. What also is messing me up is that the sun is setting so early now. I walked over to Boston Market around 4:50, got back around 5:10. I think the sun was already down by time I finished eating, around 5:50 or so, or whenever I looked out the window again. I thought it was a lot later than it was, and I was freaking out because I still haven’t started my lab report that’s due tomorrow. But in reality it’s not even seven yet.

I can’t believe I sincerely thanked my dad

So today was pretty much a bore-fest. I got up, watched the Teen Titans marathon on Cartoon Network, watched a few more episode of Tokyo Mew Mew online, and pretty much nothing else. But now I’m quite happy. Ecstatic you could say. My dad came and gave me possibly the best thing ever, and all it is is a business card. The doctor he works for has a patient who is the president of a really big company. He gave my dad his business card to give to me. Apparently he does business in Japan so he goes there weekly, and all I have to do is email him telling him what I’d like and he will get it and deliver it to my dad to give to me free of charge. That’s awesome! I have access to so much now, stuff that you can’t get in the US, exclusive stuff. I can’t stop thinking how awesome it is, I kind of want to start up a small list now. Most of it would probably be anime stuff, but I do really want a yukata, and a long bow. I also want some hook swords, although I think that’s more China. My dad said he sometimes goes to China too though, so maybe.

On another note…I wanted to post something earlier that wasn’t really important or relevant to much anything but I thought was interesting or something like that, but I forgot what it was. Once I got the good news from my dad everything else kind of blanked.

Although I must say…this week’s episode of FMA: B was great. It’s getting into manga exclusive stuff, and soon enough…BRIGGS! And…Olivier! I can’t wait!! For now I’m going to hope that I can find the Sailor Moon movies on Veoh still, because I’m only two movies and one special away from completely watching every Sailor Moon thing possible.

Well, at least Thursday 6th hour was good.

Right, so, oddly enough, I’m in a rather decent mood. I guess I’m still on my happy high from Thursday. Finally did the challenge against Rebbecca. Guess who won? That would be me! Yes, no longer am I behind her, forced to let an inferior player be ahead of me! I am now second chair! I mean, she wasn’t too bad. Between her, Lynn, and me, we’re about even in playing skills. But my technique is better than hers, since that’s what I work on in my lessons so often. BUt I can’t believe how easy it was. I thought the song would be easy, in such a simple key. But she kept playing F sharps, even though it was in C major. Her piece for me to play was pretty easy. It was in b flat, 3/8 time. I think I sped a bit on it, but that didn’t matter. And now, well next week really, I’m going to challenged Abby. I am sick of letting a truly inferior player be ahead of me, and be concert master! Never! I already have my song, and I have concert master in the bag. It consists of shifting while playing, from third to first to fifth and back to third. She can’t shift at all. Before she ever plays something, she has finger up all the way from first position. On this particular piece (that I’m going to challenge her with) I can tune by ear the first note. I don’t know what the deal it, with lower positions I have trouble having perfect tuning, but for some reason the really high notes in high position, I can get those in tune by ear. And, luckily, Lynn is going to be challenging Rebbecca. So I don’t have to worry about her challenging me back. Lynn has my back, we’ve made a pact. She’s a junior, so when I get concert master and if she makes it up to second chair, she’s not going to challenge me for concert master, since it’s my senior year. But she’s a shoe in next year for concert master. There is no competition for it, the only other junior playing violin is George, and he’s not all to good at it.
