First off, I must wish everyone a Happy Shark Week. A glorious week, truly. This and the week March Madness starts are the best of the year.

It’s been forever since I’ve blogged. That has been due to a few reasons. First and the largest, summer classes. Damn physics. This is also most of the reason I’m so pissed off. I busted my ass in that class. I never missed a day, I made sure to take detailed notes, I read the book and did practice problems (even if they took me like two hours a piece), and I did all the homework. Yet I ended up getting a D in the class. I needed a C. I’ve been at this college thing for some time now. I’m going to be a senior. I’ve been taking full loads during the regular school year, and every summer picking up two classes at community college. Oh, I forgot to point that out. Along with having to take stupid physics, it filled up at the community college near me, so I had to take two damn buses, a half hour ride each way, to a community college that was far away from where I live. And the instructor sucked. I went to him a couple times to try and get helped, it was pointless. He didn’t explain any problems worth shit, just did them, didn’t explain the method. Plus whenever he taught he would skip around with problems and half the time didn’t even get the right answer when he was doing a problem on the board. Then when the quizzes and exams came the problems would be ridiculously long and complicated, and often they weren’t even like the problems in the book. The damn quizzes before labs, which were only a couple questions, ended up taking like a half hour to complete. Anyway, my point of all of this was that I now don’t get to graduate on time, after all the work I’ve been putting into school. It seriously pisses me off.

Realizations

No more basketball stuff, because basketball is over. Okay, one thing. Williams decided to screw Arizona over and declared for the NBA draft. Bye bye top 5 rank pre-season and automatic championship. He should have stayed another year, he could have worked on his defense more. Whatever though, there’s an amazing class coming in, I guess we’ll just have to show him we can do it without him, and when Arizona does clench that championship next year he’ll be sorry he missed it.

Now to as the title says. This is going to be very short, because I have less than a week of class left for the year and have a shitload of stuff to do.

First, I’d like to say a bit about the finally aired last two episodes of Madoka. It took forever, and honestly the ending was a bit confusing (not so much the ending ending as much as the Madoka stuff), but it received a 10 from me, and has bumped Clannad down to my 3rd favorite anime. Also the HOTD OVA, which I’ve been looking so forward to because there isn’t going to be a second season anytime soon with the mangaka only bringing out a chapter every two months with barely any development in it, didn’t impress. I rated it rather low.

Now onto realizations! (more…)

For another year

I’m pretty sure everyone in Tucson right now is proud. Tonight Arizona fell to UConn, ending our tournament run at the Elite Eight. It was a good run, and the team shouldn’t feel any shame in losing. I personally feel that they should have gone for the two pointer and tied it to go into overtime instead of trying for the three to win it, but what can you do. Tonight was some of the best rebounding I’ve ever seen the team have. It was an odd night and the three pointers weren’t coming, but they made up for it by pushing through and getting points in the paint. We managed to hold up against Memphis and Texas. We kicked the supposedly oh-so-amazing 1 seed Duke’s ass, winning by 16 despite being down by 6 at the half. We just couldn’t pull it off today, but considering that the team only had 15 wins last season and didn’t even qualify for the tournament, and this season they have over 30 and made it to the Elite Eight, pretty damn good. And next year, if D-Will stays for his junior year, with the new recruits we have coming in…next year, that national title belong to Arizona. Bear Down Wildcats, until next year.

PS, as for the icon, I thought their play this year was pretty gangster, thus the icon. That is all.

CHAMPIONS!!

ARIZONAWILDCATS ARE THE PAC-10 CHAMPS!!! After last weekend, when it looks like we had lost ourselves, the Wildcats came back! Thursday was a nice win over Oregon State, with UCLA losing to Washington and giving us back sole position of the top spot in the conference. Then today, the game that would possibly decide either a tie or overall win, we played and defeated Oregon!! It was a BEAUTIFUL start with Kyle Fogg knocking 3 3-pointers right off the bat and then a couple more throughout the game. Then of course Lavender comes in to continue with the 3-pointers, followed nicely by Parrom. And Horne, our sole senior on this senior day, knocking back one as well. Initially some nice defense, forcing the Ducks to shoot from beyond the arc if they wanted to get any points. Williams had foul trouble early, but that didn’t mean anything. We still played through even with him on the bench, and we clenched that title!! Bring on the tournament! Bring on March Madness!! BEAR DOWN ARIZONA!!

Last week…

I’m not completely sure what to say about last week. I’ll just sum it up right quick though.

Basketball. Once we swept the Washington schools I knew the southern California schools were going to be the real challenge, especially UCLA. I was expecting a tough game but a win against USC. That didn’t happen. It was an unnecessary loss. The entire game I kept thinking to myself ‘I have no clue who’s playing, but that’s not the Wildcats out there’. Unnecessary turnovers, missing shots that they normally have no issues with. If they had played more like themselves then it would have been a win. But it wasn’t. It was our first loss in 8 games. I shed a tear as I crumbled to the ground. Then came Saturday against UCLA. I ended up missing it on TV, since I was at Matsuri and then Direct TV is screwy and didn’t have the game on when it was supposed to be on. But we ended up losing badly. I thought it was more bad play, but then it was replayed last night. I had to watch House, so I only caught bits and pieces, but from what I saw it was a legitimate loss. We were playing well. Not as well as normal, but a lot better than at USC. UCLA was just brutal, they were playing defense like it was nobody’s business. So we dropped from rank 10 to 18. I kind of think it’s for the best, we weren’t ready for a top 10 ranking yet. We only played 3 ranked teams, only one of those in conference, and lost against all of them. We’re just not there yet. However, I have hope. UCLA has to go up to Washington this week, so I’m guessing (hoping really) that they’ll fall to Washington, possibly Washington State too. We’re at home against the Oregon schools. Undefeated at home thus far, no reason for that to change now. So we’ll hopefully be alone at the top of the Pac-10 after the last games of the regular season. Then we need to prove ourselves yet again and win the Pac-10 title. Then onto March Madness and just do as good as we can.

Yet another one?

Since I’m not sure when the last time I made a non-basketball related post was, I’ll do one now.

School is school, I will say that. I’m killing myself for school, but it’s not giving back. A couple weeks ago I probably put in close to 30 hours of studying within a week of my cell biology test. I was freaking out before I got to it, knowing I was going to fail. I get there, get the test, and I didn’t think it was that bad. I was expecting a C, a D at the worst. Ending up getting a 39. I’ve been busy with other classes, so I haven’t had time to look at the answer key they posted, but I’m kind of hating myself for not writing in pen. Had I written in pen I could have petitioned for a regrade. My reasoning for why I think I had points taken off when I shouldn’t have is because they grades around 150 tests, 6 pages all hand written answers, within 6 hours of the test being taken. I have trouble believing they really took their time to look over them carefully. But I’m stuck with that damn grade for that stupid class.

The virology test I did the worst I was expecting. I was expecting a low B or C. I ended up getting a low C. It’s passing, but not what I wanted. So I’m going to have to figure out how to put more effort into that class.

My first Japanese chapter test I got a high C. I didn’t like it, the past two semesters I never got below a B. I have the 2nd on Monday, then my midterm oral sometime this week and the written midterm the next Monday.

My stupid INDV test…that was a fun day. I get to the bus stop, and something that never happens at that time of day happens- both spots on the bike rack are full. I needed to take my bike that day or I wouldn’t be able to get to classes in time. So I decided to wait for the next bus, since it would get me there about 10 minutes before class started, so I could get to the room about 5 minutes before the exam started. Well, something that has never ever happened in the many months I’ve been taking my bike on the bus- this rack is full as well. So I’m there, a few miles off of campus, with a test that starts in 20 minutes. The next bus comes in a half hour. So what do I do? I get on my bike and I pedal my ass off. I was about to give up about a mile in (I’m not in the best shape, but I’m not in the worst shape either. You try biking 3.5 miles up and down hilly streets), but there was no way I was going to miss the easy A test, so I kept going. With lights and everything I made it a couple minutes late, so I probably biked it in about 15 minutes. I got there and collapsed into my seat. The entire test I was having trouble because my hand was shaking from exhaustion. Wasn’t a fun day. Haven’t gotten the score back yet.

I have tons of exams before spring break, but my next big one is microbial physiology. I can get an A on it. This professor, although a pompous ass, isn’t a complete asshole. There aren’t going to be any curve balls or trick questions. It’s very straightforward, so as long as I know the material front and back that we’ve gone over in class that A is mine.

Our house bitches!

That’s right! You’d best know your place Washington, Wildcats eat little doggies for breakfast! Or I guess in this particular case dinner, but still. It does not matter, breakfast or dinner, because in the biggest game of the season Arizona takes a 1 point win over Washington!!

The first half it was all us, even though we couldn’t break it into a complete run. Up 12 at half. Then Washington turns the game into their speed and we try to follow poorly, resulting in way to many sloppy moves and turnovers. Eventually we get the hang of things, but Washington is just too into it. At one point they finally took the lead for the first time in the game. After that it was a back and forth. With 3 seconds left it looked like it was ours, then Washington put the pressure on MoMo and it was knocked out of bounds only to become their ball. With 2.2 seconds left they almost scored, but D. Will turned beast and slammed that bitch down. You could totally tell he was thinking ‘Not in my house bitch!’ Then .3 seconds left, still their ball, they throw it in and again D. Will to the rescue, tipping it away from the Washington player. The crowd of white, done especially for this game, in McKale goes crazy, the team is piled on each other in the middle of the floor. The adrenaline gets to me and I jump and yell in joy, falling to the ground against my couch. I was afraid at first, but how foolish of me to ever doubt. This is Wildcat territory, we don’t take bull from anyone else in our house. And now with all the various losses from top ten teams, our wins against the Washington schools this week has assured us a top ten spot. Crazy considering a few weeks ago we weren’t even ranked.

We’ve secured a place in the Pac-10 tourney and March Madness. With only four more regular season games we have a bit of a challenge ahead. This next week we head to the LA schools. Arizona managed to beat them at home, on the road is going to be a bigger challenge, I think especially UCLA who is 2nd right now in Pac-10. We can do it if we try though. We won again the bay schools on their turf, we can do it this time too. Then the Oregon schools at home, which will be a piece of cake. As things are right now, we’re well on our way to being 16-2 in Pac-10. Let’s bear down Cats!

I now see why I’ve always hated football. Because basketball is the real deal.

Hell yes!! What a game. Seriously, WHAT.A.GAME. Triple overtime, Wildcats pull through and win over Cal, 107-105. Sweep over the bay area. Fifth straight win. Sole leader in Pac-10, with a record 9-2, 20-4 overall. Ranked 21 right now, we’re going way up this week, no doubt. Next week we we only have to play ASWho, which, despite being there, will be an easy win. If we lose to a 1 win team, no, if we lose to our greatest rival, it would bring shame upon us all. But we won’t! You know why? Because we are the Arizona Wildcats. We are the best basketball team in the Pac-10 conference. We are the best on the entire west coast! And we don’t just depend on our star. Derrick Williams fouled out of the game with a few minutes left in regulation, and yet we still prevailed. We don’t have to depend on just our stars and starters like Cal did. All of our players are amazing. And tonight, especially in overtime, was capable because of two players: Kevin Parrom, and the savior, MoMo Jones.

This is only the beginning! Yeah, when the second round started this week we had 5 of our last 9 games on the road. We’ve just won 2 of those on the road. The team can only get better. What was thought to be our greatest challenge, Washington, have moved from 1st to 3rd place in the conference within their last 3 games, and next time we face they’re on our turf. This is our year! BEAR DOWN WILDCATS!!

Screw football, screw the Superbowl. I find it to be stupid as hell, I never watch (I actually watch the Puppy Bowl). Nothing can beat what went down tonight. NOTHING.

Like a really weird roller coaster

A seriously completely random post because I have nothing else to do or rather I have a lot of stuff to do for school especially study for my first exams of the semester that are coming up but I don’t feel like doing it at the moment. Yes, that sentence is that long. It’s meant to be read in one breath, or…one mental breath. I can read it verbally in one breath. NOT THE POINT!!

See, really random. But the point of this post is because I for some reason was looking at my old school ID’s, which I found my 8th grade and 9th grade one over winter break, and I still have my one from senior year in my wallet. But yes! Ahem, as I was saying…the difference is astounding. I feel bad for my 8th grade self. Or rather my end of 7th grade/beginning of 8th grade self. That was the last time that she (I) looked cute. Not cute like a guy would think cute. But like kid cute. Somewhere between there and freshman year…ick. I’d guess some people reading this are thinking maybe it’s my skin that went ick. But no, that’s incorrect. I’ve never had any issues with my skin, I’ve been ridiculously fortunate and have always had clear skin (I say fortunate because my brother gets ridiculous zits and he even uses face wash. I’ve never done more than wash my face with water. Again, off topic). No, the ick I speak of is weight. That thing called baby fat apparently didn’t exist, or it increased once ended middle school. It’s a hideous picture, I have a hideous (possibly creeping onto triple) chin, and I just in general look horrible. Mind you I know the hair is horrible because I had yet to discover a little thing called a straightener to get that damn poofiness out of my hair. I’m speaking mostly of the face. The senior year, which I also have my ID for…not quite as ick, but still. You know the general image of a roadie with long, nasty looking hair? Yeah, that’s my hair in it. The extra chins appear to be gone, but I look like a man, and not an attractive one either. I also look like a man in my yearbook picture for that year, in my opinion. My nose also seemed to have widened some to my disgust. My college ID looks the best. I have nice bangs in it, which was new just in time for high school graduation, plus the pretty and not ugly natural dark brown hair color, but rather a lighter brown thanks to the highlights. Plus my face looks a lot more thinned out. However in all of them my skin in much lighter than in was in middle school. Probably because I don’t get as much sun in the summer as I did back then. Instead of looking full out Mexican (which I’m not, and probably is a good thing seeing as I live in Arizona), I just have a nice light tan complexion.

That’s as much as I’ll get to on this for now, it was really a random thought. I’ll just add my weight have really been a roller coaster, especially in high school with my freshman year probably being the heaviest I ever was. Thanks to three years of college, commuting to and around campus and being able to control my own meals (My family doesn’t understand portion control or healthiness much), I’m probably around 40 pounds light than I was back then. Plus, you know, about 3 or inches taller.

NOW I MUST COOK DINNER SO THEN I MAY ENJOY THE GAME THAT BEGINS IN A HALF HOUR!!! WE CANNOT BE DEFEATED AT HOME, AND HAVE YET TO BE!! WE BEAT OUT UCLA FOR SOLE CONTROL OF 2ND PLACE IN THE CONFERENCE, WE’LL EASILY STAMP OUT USC!!! THEN COME A FEW WEEKS TIME WE’LL GET BACK AT WASHINGTON ON OUR HOME TURF AND TAKE FIRST PLACE. THEN THE PAC-10 TOURNAMENT. THEN INTO THE SWEET 16. THEN THE ELITE EIGHT. THEN THE FINAL FOUR. AND POSSIBLY THE CHAMPIONSHIP. BEAR DOWN WILDCATS!!!!

Yes, much excitement. Why? Two reasons: First, there is no Alex Zendejas to completely screw us over (If you’re an Arizona fan or watch PAC-10 then you probably know what I’m talking about). Second, somebody by the name of Derrick Williams.

Time is nonexistent

For me at least, with school. Or rather, time where I can do my own things, such as blogging. But I have about an hour and a half until I have to go back to school, so I’m writing something right now.

School…so much this semester. Microbial physiology is going to kick my ass unless I fight back and kick its ass instead. Cell biology and virology are going to be challenging, but should be doable. The professor wasn’t lying, Japanese does get harder once you hit second year. Yet I’m taking it because I was to learn the language and minor in it. I actually just got back from my INDV section…there’s like 10 people tops in it. And I’m pretty sure almost all of them speak Spanish, along with the TA. It’s not his Spanish speaking section, but still. They must be in it because they actually want to know stuff about Latin America. I just grabbed whatever INDV I could that fit in my schedule so I wouldn’t have to worry about getting almost all my elective done my senior year. Although I can tell you right now (and I’m not glorifying myself here, I’m serious) I am the brainchild of that class. When we were working on a map my TA had to ask out loud if we knew what a peninsula was because so many people had no clue. One of the people I was working with didn’t know where the Sonora Desert is, which is bad considering we live in it.

Last night was all new episodes of stuff, Bones, The Office, 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation finally came back on. Had I watched them, I wouldn’t have been able to watch either Bones or The Office and 30 Rock because stupid American Idol took the 7PM spot last night. However, I watched none of them. Buffy was on for 3 hours last night, and I had to watch that because it’s almost to the end. Tonight should be the series finale, unless Logo decides to be stupid and not air it like they did Monday. I also watched Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica yesterday, and my first thought after it was over: “Shit just got real.” It was unexpected for a mahou shoujo anime, but damn. I must say, I’m surprised that this is turning out to be my favorite of the season, especially since I’ve never found SHAFT shows to be more than a bit of random entertainment.

I leave you now with this awesome ED. Under a cut because of the size.
