Today, I think, I can classify as a good day. Perhaps even a great day. Physio was boring as usual, but somehow today I didn’t nearly fall asleep. And I found out today was the last day the guy professor is going to be lecturing, we finally get the female one back for the last couple of lectures. And then…well, I thought Japanese Pop Culture was going to suck, because the professor was there. But he just sat and let his TA lead the class, which wasn’t much but just giving a brief overview of the movie we’re actually watching all the way through, Summer Wars, and then relating it to stuff we’ve learned in class. I think the only reason he actually did that was because the professor was there, but I don’t really care. And we’re going to be watching it on Monday too! I never thought we’d get through an entire movie in that class.

Woes of [not] studying

I’m so close to being done. I have my last regular o-chem exam this Friday, and then my final physio lab practical this Wednesday, and final for o-chem lab this Thursday. Then the Japanese oral final sometime next week, and the week after that four finals in three days. Then I’m done for the year here at least. I need to have that last minute drive to study like crazy, especially for o-chem because I need to do get at least a high C on this last test to have any chance of passing the class. I tried to study, I did two hours today, and two hours yesterday. I was going to do more, but I just couldn’t find the motivation. The thing is, I studied for two hours straight today and then was going to watch Scrapped Princess until 4 then go back to studying, but at a bit before four I only had two more episodes to go, so I decided to finish watching the series. And then I saw Working! was out subbed, so I watched that. Pretty much I never got to studying again. I’ll probably start again at 9, but it’ll probably be physio instead of o-chem. But on a good note I finally got to and finished Scrapped Princess all over the weekend. It was actually quite good. I think there’s something about fantasy shounen that I like, because, although I haven’t really watched too many series within that genre, the ones I have I have enjoyed quite a bit.

My roommate talks quite loud when she’s talking to her sister, and she’s talking about the AIMS testing. And talking about how her sister and cousin had the same prompt or something, and then she said “They’re the same nationwide.” Yeah, there’s kind of an issue with that statement. AIMS isn’t a nationwide thing, it’s something that Arizona is forced to do because the government wanted to let slightly fewer dumbasses out of school with a high school diploma.

GCC hates me or something. Last year when I wanted to take summer classes I couldn’t sign up online because my transcripts hadn’t gotten there before I registered with the school, because they needed to make sure I had passed English 101 and a the math below calculus. And now I tried to sign up for physics and I can’t do it because I haven’t gotten a grade of C or better in like math 60 or something like that. I got a B in a 200 level math class there, I’d think that would be good enough. So I’m going to have to call them at some point this week to try to sign up. I’m not looking forward to it, because it’s Monday-Thursday from 7AM to 9AM (that’s earlier than my first class is here, I’m going to have to be up by like 6 and be out of the house by 6:40) and then the lab from 9:10-11:10. But I don’t want to take it here. I can’t take it here, I’ll fail. University physics is crazy hard, I’ve heard so many people talk about how hard it is. And I’m not very good at math, and suck at calculus, so I’d never be able to pass at a university.

Need to think of a good title for my paper and then go to bed, because yay, 8AM physio tomorrow. Whatever, I don’t really care right now.

I never thought I’d see it

Heroman. Wow. If there were such a thing as American anime, then this would be it. I’m not sure what was being thought when it was created, but it’s oh so obvious that this is a show with “American ideals”. In a way it kind of pisses me off, because the first few minutes they show heavy traffic complete with Hummers (which only douchebags drive IMO), suburbia galore, and tons and tons of American flags. I should have counted how many there were in the first episode alone. And then some of the characters even dress so you know they’re American. Then of course you couldn’t have America (this particular anime based in what is essentially California) without the ever so wide variety of clicks. There’s the main character, a scrawny kid who essentially dresses in a fashion I’d maybe call punk. Then there’s the blond haired blue eyes cheerleader who wears nothing but her cheerleading uniform, and of course her older brother who wears a red, white and blue shirt and is built like a jock, and has a little posse he hangs with, all filled with rich kids. And there’s the skateboarder kid who you’d never expect to be based of an American stereotype because his hair is huge like you often see in anime. And of course, Heroman, the giant robot, is dressed with the patterns of the American flag on him. I haven’t really watched that much mecha (pretty much just Eureka 7 and Code Geass), but this is different. I do believe most mecha involve someone being inside the giant robot, whereas this giant robot turns into a giant robot after being unleashed by the giant cool looking hand thing and is just a giant solid robot with nobody inside him.

I’m assuming the extra exclamation point was intentional

So I finally watched the first episodes subbed on K-ON!!. Only once I actually watched the raw, which was like four hours ago, did I realize that to distinguish it from the first season they added an extra exclamation point. My memory isn’t the best regarding the manga, but I’m pretty sure they skipped some stuff, pretty much the rest of the stuff that happened in their second year and it started off with the girls in their third year (Azusa in second). From the previews it looks like they’re going to find Sawako-sensei’s old guitar and go through that chapter. I don’t remember where that chapter was sequentially, but I do remember reading it.
