So the blog seems to have been down every time I wanted to post something, and instead of writing some other stuff down, I’ll just use this to post a few thoughts (opinion and rants) about a few things.
First off, episode 15 of FMA:B came out this Sunday (although any subs didn’t come out until Tuesday, and they weren’t the best.) I watched the raws, and the following is based on the raw, meaning I understood very little of it:
I eventually watched the fansubs, after a couple days later than normal. Since the good fansubs didin’t actually come out until yesterday evening I just decided to watch the FUNimation ones.
Naturally I had to go see HBP first day it was out. Went to get tickets the day before and everything. Despite the fact it was on a Wednesday I was expecting people would be there and it would be packed, and plus I like being the first there so we arrived a bit less than two hours early for the movie, and were just barely the first people in the theater. Most people didn’t actually start showing up until an hour or so before it was supposed to start. So this is just a rant I had to get out about it. It’s actually a lot less rawr than it could have been, because I did it a several hours after I got home. I wouldn’t recommend reading it if you haven’t seen the movie, although it doesn’t really give much away:
Went to see HBP…ugh. It was bad. There were so many inaccuracies, and I’m now pretty sure that they’re not even going to bother mentioning the Fleur-Bill relationship/wedding, because yet again they didn’t mention it. I won’t bother getting into the details, because there’s too much I couldn’t stand about it. Character inaccuracies were bothering me a lot, and the fact that there was certain magic performed in certain places it shouldn’t have been able to. I’m sorry, but just because you’re the headmaster doesn’t mean that you can magically be the only one who can apparate within Hogwarts. They completely left out the last chapter!! How do you leave out the last chapter? I mean, they pretty much completely butchered Dumbledore being murdered, but they didn’t even have his funeral!! Oh, and the entire movie I kept thinking ‘he looks more like Gandalf than Dumbledore’, and he did. I at one point tried to watch the movie as if it was just a movie, but I couldn’t do it. It was bad. I think it was the fact they focused WAY too much on the Ron-Lavender relationship, and made it way too obvious to everyone that Hermione was totally into Ron and Harry was totally into Ginny. And what’s with them not breaking up? That’s kind of important, they’re not together for most of Deathly Hallows for a good reason, but at the end of the movie Hermione tells Harry that Ron is okay with him and Ginny, even though he never actually saw them together, because the one kiss they had was when they were by themselves in the Room of Requirement, which didn’t happen in the book again. All I can say is yet again Evanna Lynch did not dissapoint me as her Luna was quite good as in OotP. Helena Bonham Carter did Bellatrix pretty well I guess too. I…how I want to get into it more, but I will resist. All I will say is this: how could they cut out 10 chapters? There was a lot of stuff that wasn’t in the book that they put in the movie, parts that they didn’t need that could have been replaced by parts that were actually in the book. I mean, what the hell was with that ending? Everyone lighting their wands near Dumbledore’s dead body? Oh, and for another matter, what was with the underage magic? Harry and Ginny at the Burrow used magic which is a big no no. And speaking of the Burrow, what’s with nobody knowing that he was coming? And what was with the waitress, and Harry liking to ride the trains? He was supposed to stay put! And then running around Diagon Alley like that by themselves, without the invisibility cloak. Okay, I ended up ranting more, probably shouldn’t have, but I think I’m done now. I don’t want to be, but I will be. The urge will be fought. Oh, but….gah, alright, I need to get one, or two, more things out. At the beginning where Ron was saying how his parents almost didn’t let him go back to Hogwarts, what was with that?! His family is supposed to be the pureblood traitors, they trust Dumbledore and know Hogwarts is probably safer than anywhere else. Of course they’d go back. And Bellatrix parading through the school during their very calm escape (since there was no fight) and destroying everything, what was with that? And Draco never actually showed a Dark Mark in the book, it wasn’t even confirmed he had one. Oh, and what about…well I guess it wasn’t overly important, but they didn’t have anything about the fact that Fudge was no longer Minister of Magic and Scrimegeour was the new one, he wasn’t mentioned or seen once.
I have to say though, I laughed when one of the inferi grabbed Harry’s wrist. I knew it was going to happen, and it was funny when my brother jumped. I mean, it didn’t really happen like that in the book, but think about it- it’s a movie, you know something is going to to come out of the water unexpectedly, pretty obvious after that. I don’t think anyone even knew what they were, because they never bothered introducing the concept of inferi.
And that is that. I’m actually going to finish watching the episode of ATLA I’m currently watching then going to start the J.K. Rowling special that was on ABC I DVRed.Tags: Anime, fma, harry potter, movies
